As soon as I took it in my hand I started crying because I felt the weight, the shape and I knew what it was. I tore open the bags and stared at my grandfather’s little navy blue jewelry box with the two red airplanes on the top. I ran my finger across the embossed pictures and cried so very hard I felt I was going to choke. I clutched it to my chest and curled up around it on the bed. I knew I had forgotten so many stories and that just killed me. You would think this would be some kind of moment of redemption for her, but I don’t think that I could have hated her more in that moment.
